The Chairman of the Board of the Supporters Foundation of the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Tehran announced the addition of the “Environment” theme to the Young Thinkers and Scientists Festival.
In a press conference for the 9th edition of the Young Thinkers and Scientists Festival, held this morning, Tuesday, December 9th, at the University of Tehran, Mahmoud Kamarei said: “The 9th Young Thinkers and Scientists Festival will be held on December 26th. The experiences from the previous eight editions show that this festival has become a dynamic platform for the growth and blossoming of young talents.”
He further noted the improvement in the quality of ideas submitted to the festival, adding: “According to the organizers, the new and strong ideas submitted to the festival this year are of significantly higher quality compared to previous years. This has been confirmed by the judges, reflecting the increased activity and deeper engagement of the participants.”
Kamarei explained the festival’s main themes: “This specialized festival annually covers key areas such as mathematics, computer science, geology, and biology. This year, the environment theme has also been added. This approach emphasizes that the development of science and technology in the world should be aligned with critical issues, including environmental protection.”
The Chairman of the Board of the Supporters Foundation of the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Tehran also referred to the activities of the Jamili Science and Technology Foundation: “The Jamili Foundation, which supports the Young Thinkers and Scientists Festival, plays a philanthropic and supportive role in this regard. The foundation, which works in basic sciences, effectively undertakes tasks typically handled by government and educational institutions, aiming to expand the boundaries of knowledge and technology. It plays a central role in organizing this festival.”
He continued: “Specialized judging has been carried out, and the final selected ideas will be introduced at a ceremony on December 26th. The activities of the top ideas will not stop after being introduced. Instead, these individuals can benefit from financial and research support from the Jamili Foundation to develop and commercialize their ideas.”
Kamarei concluded: “Fortunately, in recent years, many of the ideas presented at this festival have turned into new products and achievements. Every year, one or two distinguished professors in the relevant fields provide necessary support to these young researchers.”
The Vice Chancellor for Education at the University of Tehran expressed hope that with continued support, this festival will continue to strengthen the country’s specialized and research workforce.
