The Call for the 2026 Young Scientist Medal Has Been Released; Nominations for Influential Works by Scientists Under 40
The call for the 2026 Young Scientist Medal has been issued for outstanding works in the fields of medical and biological sciences, engineering sciences, and computer science by young scientists under the age of 40. Institutions or scientific personalities have until January 20, 2026 (30th of Dey, 1404) to nominate their candidates.
The Young Scientist Medal is one of the programs of the Mustafa (PBUH) Science and Technology Foundation, which was established by the endowment of cash prizes to the winners of the Mustafa (PBUH) Prize in 2019, 2023, and 2025 by Ugur Sahin, Omid Farrokhzad, and Wahab Mirakani. The first award ceremony was held in September 2025. The medal comes with a certificate of appreciation and a $10,000 cash prize for each of the fields.
Eligibility and Nomination Requirements for the 2026 Young Scientist Medal:
The 2026 Young Scientist Medal will be awarded for influential works in the fields of medical and biological sciences, engineering sciences, and computer science. Young scientists from Islamic countries are eligible for nomination.
To be eligible, the nominee must be under 40 years old at the end of the year in which the medal is awarded. This means that candidates for the 2026 Young Scientist Medal must have been born in 1987 or later.
The scientific works must be nominated by a third-party scientific or technological institution, such as universities and research centers, distinguished scientific and technological associations, academies of sciences, or science and technology parks.
The mentioned scientific and research centers have until January 20, 2026 (30th of Dey, 1404) to submit their nominations to the Young Scientist Medal Secretariat. The award ceremony will be held in November 2026 (Aban 1405).
The Young Scientist Medal is a catalyst for the scientific and technological breakthroughs of young scientists in the Islamic world and recognizes their impactful achievements. This medal has been established as a symbol of excellence and scientific merit for the young and elite generation.
