The 10th International Rumi Congress, hosted by the Rumi Studies Center of Near East University, took place from December 3rd to 5th (12th to 14th of Azar) in Nicosia, Northern Cyprus.
This academic event brought together scholars and academics from 12 countries, including Iran, Turkey, Cyprus, Pakistan, India, Egypt, the UK, Australia, Russia, Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Uzbekistan, who presented their latest research in the fields of mystical literature, Sufism, and new readings of Mathnawi and Divan-e-Shams.
Dr. Qadir Golkarian, Head of the Rumi Research Center and Executive Secretary of the 10th International Rumi Congress, announced that a total of 138 papers were submitted to the congress secretariat from various countries, with only 43 selected for presentation over two days.
He added that some of the distinguished papers presented at the congress will be published in prestigious international journals indexed in Web of Science and Scopus, and all papers will be published in a compilation book in four languages: Turkish, Persian, Russian, and English.
The presence of Asin Çelebi, the 22nd-generation grandson of Rumi, added a special touch to this year’s congress.
Additionally, as part of the event’s side programs, a performance of Iranian mystical and traditional music by the “Hamavaz” music group, led by Hamid Khazaei from Iran, created memorable nights for art and literature enthusiasts in Northern Cyprus, receiving widespread acclaim from attendees.
