New Members of the Academy of Persian Language and Literature Introduced

The new members of the Academy of Persian Language and Literature have been announced.

According to ISNA, at the 489th meeting of the Academy Council, Maryam Hosseini, retired professor of Persian Language and Literature at Alzahra University; Mahmoud Fotouhi Roodma’jani, retired professor at Ferdowsi University and former president of the Iranian Literary Criticism Association; and Sadri Saadi, honorary professor of Persian Language and Literature at Samarkand University, were introduced as new full members of the Academy.

In the same session, Salman Saket, associate professor at Ferdowsi University, was appointed as an associate member, while Garnik Asatourian and Vartan Vaskanian from Armenia, Ali Guzel Yuz and Naji Tokmak from Turkey, Bo Utas from Sweden, and Aref Noshahi from Pakistan were elected as honorary members of the Academy.

The members also paid tribute to the late Professor Kamran Fani, reflecting on his contributions to Iranian language, literature, and culture.

Additionally, Changiz Molaei, a full member of the Academy, delivered his inaugural address, entitled:
“A Re-examination of Historical and Linguistic Evidence Concerning the Formation of Persian as the Common Language of Iranians.”
